Lewisham Water Polo Club

We are a junior water polo club in Lewisham. Our aim is to encourage kids of all ages and levels to enjoying water sports and further progress their aquatic skills through the sport of water polo. 

 

We strive to develop well-rounded, well-balanced, health conscious athletes in this sport, offering sessions that fit all levels - Development (introductory), Advanced(intermediate) and Club Level (competitive).

Meet the team

Gabor Szell

Qualification:

  • Water Polo Coach Level 1 

  • Swim Teacher ASA Level 2

  • NPLQ lifeguard 

  • Team Manager Level 1

  • BSc Sport Manager

Gabor is a highly regarded player within the water polo community. Born and raised in Hungary, he began his water polo career at the age of 12 representing PVSK Water Polo Club in the Hungarian premier league.

Having been around water polo his entire life, he has no shortage of ideas to pass down. His breadth of knowledge, both nationally and internationally, brings an invaluable perspective to the team evident in his coaching and the play of his athletes.

From the refinement of their swimming techniques, to the development of their fundamentals of water polo and high level tactical development, he spends most of his time working on the core strengths and weaknesses of the individuals, nurturing them to achieve their full potential.

Martyn Allchurch

Martyn is a founding coach of Lewisham Water Polo Club.. With a rich history of coaching - not only in water polo, but also in swimming and pool lifeguarding, Martyn brings 15+ years of coaching experience.

Martyn says his favourite thing about coaching water polo is helping kids achieve their highest capability. On a day-to-day basis, he focuses on assisting them in developing their fundamental skills and techniques as players.
